How does this year's salary for emergency medicine physician compare to other years?

In 2022, the average salary of emergency medicine physicians rebounded from a pre-pandemic slump, regaining its previous peak from 2018. Throughout the pandemic, the demand for emergency medicine doctors significantly declined due to fewer patients seeking care, but the recent resurgence in demand likely indicates that patients feel more comfortable seeking emergency care in person once again. It is worth noting that emergency medicine physicians also report the highest levels of burnout among all medical specialties.

Metodology

This report was compiled using data from an original survey conducted from August to September 2022. The 2,571 respondents represent a broad range of U.S.-based clinicians, roles, specialties, ages, facility sizes and experience levels. Some recipients had been placed by LocumTenens.com, and some had not. The age range of respondents is 26-79 and 46 medical specialties are represented. The data from the survey responses was compiled and analyzed by experts in the healthcare industry to formulate the insights shown here.
