actively seeking an experienced gastroenterologist and physician leader to serve as the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director.

 

The Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program is directly accountable to the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) at Creighton University School of Medicine- Phoenix and the Chair at the training site where they are primarily based/employed. The Program Director will be provided with the required protected, non-clinical time dedicated to administration of the program. The Fellowship is a three-year, six fellow program with initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

 

As a clinically active gastroenterologist, this physician leader will play a vital role in our growing gastroenterology division within Hospital Medical Group. Our team is committed to delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, encompassing a wide array of services with continued growth into general and interventional fields. The primary clinic location is located on the campus of local Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This team practices in a 571-bed academic, Level 1 trauma, medical center and attached clinics with support from Hepatology, Liver transplant, Advanced Endoscopy Services, General Surgery, all Surgical Subspecialties, Pathology, and Radiology. Be part of an expanding team of existing Gastroenterologists with APP support within the clinic setting.

 

RESPONSIBlLITIES

          75% Clinical/ 25% Academic

          Maintain ongoing certification and compliance with ACGME requirements

          Be a role model of professionalism

          Ensure the program’s compliance with institutional policies and procedures and ACGME requirements

          Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education, develop and review program curricula, and monitor fellow supervision at all participating sites.

          Work with other departments and other clinical sites to develop and maintain appropriate clinical and educational rotations for the fellows and residents

          Regularly assess and promote fellow well-being while fostering an environment in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of fellows’ clinical and academic experiences

          Develop opportunities for bidirectional communication with fellows and faculty

          Oversee and facilitate faculty and fellow evaluations and performance management with feedback

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

          MD or DO degree and current certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or subspecialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review Committee

          Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment

          Specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or gastroenterology fellowship

          Ongoing clinical activity and ongoing academic achievements in gastroenterology, including publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research

          Must have or be eligible for State of Arizona medical licensure

          Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges 

          Strong interpersonal communication skills

          Ability to travel as needed between clinical training sites
